Happy Saint Patrick's Day

3/17/2014

PictureRathangan, Co. Kildare. An image from my childhood.

As a child I holidayed in Co. Kildare, Ireland and thought that in commemoration of Saint Patrick’s Day I would post some photos along with my favorite Irish Blessing.

Picture
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Happy St. Patrick's day. What a beautiful old building. I love that ivy and wonder would the building crumble if the ivy was taken off? The Irish Blessing is so beautiful too. I love it.

Thanks Mary, I'm not sure about the structure of the building, but I'll bet there are a lot of spiders in that ivy.

I too holidayed in Ireland as a child - Ennistymon on the west coast. It truly is a beautiful country, isn't it. I re-visited it about 10 years ago with a friend. Getting anywhere took ages because we found ourselves stopping the car just about every half a mile - I'm not joking - to take in the stunning views!

I'm jealous. I haven't been back for more than thirty years, but I'll get there one day.
